One night as a Grandfather and grandson were doing their nightly routine before bed, grandfather saw an opportunity for a quick, but important, lesson.
He took the tube of toothpaste, handed it to his grandson, and asked him to squeeze the entire tube out into the sink. Confused, but interested, the grandson did as he was asked.
Once the tube was empty, grandfather asked him to put all of it back in the tube. And share with him
“Our words are like that toothpaste,” the mother said. “Once released, our words cannot be put back in our mouths and forgotten.”
- Can you remember a time when you weren’t careful with your words and later you regretted saying it?
- What could you have said differently in that situation if today you got another chance?
“People will forget what you did and who you are, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” – Maya Angelou
Every day when we interact with others, how we make them feel is a result of the words we say(use) and how we say(use) them.
